What is BodyGnosis?
BodyGnosis is two fold
First, it is a unique modality of body work that evolved over years of practice. It is a combination of PNF stretching (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) and very deep and very precise tissue work. The stretching is essential as it prepares the tissue for deep and transformational change. Without preparing the tissue properly the deep tissue work would be too painful to be effective.
The combination of PNF and very deep tissue work effectively alleviates the root of all soft tissue soreness, tightness and pain - CONTRACTIONS. A contraction is simply tight / shortened and often painful muscle tissue and fascia. A contraction is an established medical term that is almost entirely ignored by the medical community. Contractions are the first domino on the road to persistent soreness, tightness and chronic pain.
Secondly, BodyGnosis is coaching to build AWARENESS. The word 'gnosis' is Greek meaning 'knowledge'. Every client I have worked with has revealed bad habits around musculoskeletal use. Either bad habits lead to pain such as repetitive over use motions or alternately, pain develops first such as in injury, in which people later develop poor habits in an attempt to compensate and mitigate the pain. In either case people must learn to recognize and rectify these poor usage habits for long term permanent healing to occur.
We must become knowledgeable about our bodies and how we are using them. This is done through building awareness and making the subconscious conscious.
